Crews from Cornplanter were called to assist at four structure fires Monday : one in Pleasantville, one in Oil City, and two in Cranberry Township. Early in the morning, Cornplanter Volunteers were alerted to a kitchen fire on Meadow Rd in Seneca. Station 24 crews made quick work of it and all companies were placed back into service. Then, just before 8 p.m. Pleasantville firefighters responded to the Jackson home at 219 School Street, Pleasantville for a dryer fire. Crews from Titusville, Hydetown and Cornplanter were requested to respond for mutual aid but then were asked to "hold in place". The incident was quickly under control with no injuries reported. In Oil City, firefighters responded shortly after 8 p.m. to 407 E 2nd St, an old 3 story bldg now home to the Attic, an antiques shop. No-one was apparently in the building at the time of the fire. Heavy smoke poured from the building & later, firefighters checked out the 1st floor shop & 2nd floor apartments. No injuries were reported. On scene were fire fighters from Oil City, Cornplanter Engine 6-96 & Seneca RIT team and air cascade unit as well as Cornplanter Fire Police & a crew from Community Ambulance. Shortly before midnight, a fourth structure fire was reported on Maple Shade Road. A resident reported a small fire in his home saying he was able to put it out with an extinguisher, but wanted the fire department to check his house anyway. Units from Pinegrove, Rockland and Cornplanter were called in for mutual aid, but then held in place. All units were back in station by 12:20 a.m.
